So you are thinking about working on a new website design and you quickly discover that you have a lot of photos you need to add and none of them are the same size.

This is a typical web design problem. The best thing to do is to resize all your images before you upload them to the media library. This way they will all fit properly within your design and display the way you wanted them to.

The problem is, a lot of times you have a ton of photos. Dozens of them to resize. It will take forever to resize them one at a time on your computer.

Here is a simple solution to resize a batch of photos quickly and easily – use Canva!

Below is a free tutorial on how we resize photos for web design.

We nearly always use photo sizes:

1200 x 800 for splash images or horizontal images

800 x 600 for large square shapes (Yes, I know that is not square but they look nice)

300 x 500 for vertical photos

Conclusion - How to Easily Resize Photos Using Canva

This has been our short tutorial on how to resize a batch of images quickly and easily using Canva.

When we are designing websites, we may be resizing hundreds of photos. We can’t efficiently do that one image at a time.

So instead, we upload them all to canvas, use the method we just described to create two or three custom size projects, and then we simply drag the photos into the box, canvas resizes them, and then we download them and re-upload them to our image/media library in WordPress, Wix, or Shopify.

There are other methods for resizing a group of photos. You can do this in dropbox pro. But we don’t find it user friendly.

We prefer this method and our team uses it regularly to resize photos for a web design project.

Pro Tip

You can save yourself a lot of time and headache when designing a website by simply sticking to only three sizes of images throughout the entire website.

We mostly use:

1200 x 800 (for splash images)

800 x 600 (for larger square image blocks)

300 x 500 (for vertical image blocks)
